The Extraordinary Out of the Ordinary

Dec 23, 2018    Pastor Jonathan Santiago    ‭Matthew‬ ‭1:18-25

The single greatest thing ever given to humanity was the birth of Jesus because it brought salvation. The wrath of God, the judgment of sin and the shame and guilt of that sin is all gone in light of the work of Jesus, but it didn’t start with a man on the cross. In fact, it didn’t even start with a man. It began with a baby.

God’s plan of salvation was brought by a helpless baby. A frail, weak and completely dependent upon its mother, baby. There is so much that could have gone wrong. God not only robed himself in flesh, but he became exactly like you and me. He experienced being a child and growing up just like we did.

The humanity of Jesus is what makes the story so remarkable. Of course, God can withstand temptation because the bible says he can’t be tempted, but Jesus was tempted because he was flesh just like us. This is the plan of God, this is something extraordinary occurring in the midst of the ordinary.
