Anxious For Nothing

May 3, 2020    Pastor Scott Shepherd    Exodus 3, Exodus 4, 1 Thessalonians 5:11,

Every person in the world has some experience with fear of rejection and the desire for acceptance. Maybe it was a girl or boy you liked, it could have been being a part of a group, perhaps it was a job. Each of us, in some form or fashion, has experienced the fear of rejection.

If we can be honest with ourselves, we would know that part of that fear stems from thinking that if someone knew the real us, they wouldn’t like us. This is because all of us on some level believe that there is something worth rejecting in us. We wouldn’t normally think of it like this, but that belief, that fear, is rooted in the feeling of shame.

You and I are chosen by God. The anxiety of rejection can only be reconciled by the knowledge that we are in Christ and it is not about us.
