International Women's Ministry - Lisa Robinson

Duties: Co-leader of the CFCMI International Women's Ministry.

Personal History: Lisa Larson (Robinson) was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin. She graduated in 1984 from Mukwonago High School, joined the United States Army Reserves, sold her motorcycle, and shipped off to Fort Dix, New Jersey. During her 5th week of bootcamp she received a devastating Red Cross phone call that her father suffered a massive heart attack. She made it home to kiss him goodbye. At the young age of 18 and lack of God in her life she leaned hard on drugs and alcohol and then started bartending. With a grieving mother, one brother in jail, and a Jesus-freak brother, Lisa got away from it all and enlisted full-time in the U.S. Navy in July 1985. Her first duty station was in Groton, Connecticut welding on submarines. 1987, as she traveled to her next ship in Charleston, South Carolina. But along the way, she decided to visit her “religious” brother in Norfolk, Virginia and was baptized in Jesus’ name January 31st, 1988. The assistant helping Pastor Daniel Lantis baptize that day was Pastor Duane Robinson. Little did they know they would be married later in November 1991.

Family: Pastor Duane and Lisa Robinson currently live in Tomah, Wisconsin with their son, Elijah, and their daughter, Miracle. Their daughter is currently attending University of Wisconsin-Platteville.

Ministry Background: International ministry started early for Lisa as she flew overseas to her first ship in February 1988. She faithfully wrote letters from sea and when in port, paid for phone calls to communicate with her pastors. Many times, she was the only sister onboard, though it never dimmed her spirit. She shared Bible study after Bible study, seeing many souls come to the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
After being stationed on shore duty in Norfolk, Lisa was able to become involved in women’s Bible studies, Children’s Church, Ladies Auxiliary (LA), women’s chaplain committee; and last, but not least, but truly near and dear to her heart, was the LA Letter Writing committee. She understood what it was like to go weeks and months not having godly fellowship. Lisa volunteered to lead this new letter writing committee and worked diligently to ensure Sisters who did not have access to a local congregation were encouraged in the LORD.

November 1996, Lisa was ordered to USS Blue Ridge in Yokosuka, Japan. God truly blessed as the Japan Fellowship grew from Pastor Robinson, herself, and two brothers off the USS Kitty Hawk to over 35 faithful Brothers and Sisters. This is not including the ministry in Saipan where several souls came to know the LORD.  Fall 1999, Elijah was born. After ministering six years in Japan, Lisa received her final set of orders to shore duty in Norfolk. In 2003, a new ministry was started in their home called New Beginnings Christian Ministries (NBCM) along with a new baby daughter, Miracle. (Today, NBCM is still a home church faithful to preach the truth of God’s Word and encourage the world around them via teleconference calls and Facebook Live).

December 31st, 2005, Lisa retired as a Navy Career Counselor Chief to pursue the “stay-at-home mom” dream. That did not last long as they followed God’s direction move to Wisconsin in June of 2007. There Lisa worked full-time until the death of her mother and stepfather in 2009. In 2011, God led Lisa to homeschooling mom role. Though a challenging assignment, she was blessed beyond measure! She used the Bible in her curriculum, read missionary stories to her children, and fellowshipped with other Christian homeschool moms. Her faith grew in ways she never imagined.

God directed the Robinsons to return to Norfolk in June 2015 where Lisa finished homeschooling. She then shifted to the workforce in 2017 as a military financial counselor. Lisa loved being back in the military environment sowing the Gospel wherever she could. She used her God-given talent and became a positive influence for effective team building and training amongst colleagues. Lisa also started full-time school to complete a bachelor’s degree in Professional studies with a concentration in Christian Ministry at Regent University. In 2019, Lisa had another challenging assignment requiring an interview with a missionary. As God would have it, she reached out to Pastor Hubert Ulysse for help. After graduating with honors, she agreed to God’s current assignment for her: To serve in the CFCMI International Women’s Ministry.

To date, Lisa is working full-time as an accredited financial counselor for the Wisconsin Army and Air National Guard. She continues to be passionate about encouraging others, team building, and carries a burden to influence today’s generation to grow into strong Christian Leaders for tomorrow.
