Developing Our Purpose

Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well”.

We might not want to hear that the purpose of life is not to be happy. An interesting thing happens when we stop looking for what makes us happy and starting looking to be useful, honorable and compassionate, we find happiness. God has designed us to serve. We are never more fulfilled or satisfied as we are when are serving something other than ourselves.
